Feel Good Fitness February

This February forget the diet, forget counting calories, forget the scales and focus on finding what FEELS GOOD!

We are in our third lockdown. Sometimes just getting out of bed in the morning is a challenge, let alone finding the energy to do a workout. I know many are juggling not only work but managing a family and the “joy” of homeschooling too. Whatever your struggle, it’s easy to get disheartened when exercise drops lower on your priority list. Therefore, it’s important that when we do finally find the time to work out we make it a good one.

But what’s a good workout?

Traditionally February is all about love. Exercise is a vital form of self care and the perfect way to show yourself a little bit of love. You owe it to yourself to find a form of exercise that best suits you. But, how do you know which workout is for you?

It’s so easy to get overwhelmed and swept up in statistics that convince us certain workouts are better than others. We are constantly told that the most effective workouts are the ones that make us burn the most, sweat the most and have us walking like a penguin for the next week. But, in my opinion any workout that gets you sweating AND smiling is a GOOD WORKOUT. It may not always be the “perfect” workout. You might not always burn the most calories or get all the moves right but, if you love it, and the feeling it gives you then it’s the BEST workout.

That doesn’t mean it can’t be challenging though. In fact sometimes the best workouts are just that- a challenge. Part of the amazing feeling that comes from working out is the ability to push ourselves out of our comfort zones. As we conquer these challenges we feel empowered and are able to find confidence in our abilities making us healthier physically and mentally.

If you never try, you’ll never know!

These days there are so many options available: HIIT, yoga, Zumba, LISS, and so many more. So, give them all a try. Find out what works for you. At the end of the day you will never regret a workout, those endorphins will always find a way to work their magic. Experiment and find out what works for you, what sets fire in your belly. Find the workout you WANT to do. You will soon realise that the workouts that you still want to do on the worst days are the ones worth sticking to. After all workouts are meant to build you up not bring you down.

Adult Street dance is an upbeat class that aims to develop technique, style and self-confidence in a FUN and non-judgemental environment. I mainly focus on the commercial dance style with core elements of street: hip-hop, popping and locking.
